阶元简介

Diploneis的硅质壳呈椭圆形或者提琴形，带有钝圆头。每个壳具有两个纵向管，分布在壳缝的每个边。管分布在硅质壳内，且open to the exterior through pores.但是缺少openings to the interior of the cell。这些管的功能尚且未知。硅质壳高度硅化，带有复杂的（具小室）的孔纹。

生境分布

Diploneis的属大而多样化。物种原先来自于泥面以及海洋生境。其中有少许淡水类的代表。
